How Does Kind Dine Work?
At Kind Dine, we believe in the power of generosity to make someone’s day. That’s why we make it easy to feed others through acts of kindness!
Here’s the simple breakdown:
- Donate Kind Meals: Donate Kind Meals from one of our partner restaurants through the Kind Dine app. Visit your Kindness Tracker to see when your donated meals have been redeemed.
- Redeem Kind Meals: Anyone in need can browse donated meals and redeem one for themselves. Once redeem is pressed, users will have 1 hour to pick up the order.
- Express Gratitude: Once someone redeems a meal, they are encourage to leave a kind message on our Gratitude Wall, thanking the person or business that purchased their meal.
- Pay it Forward: If the person who redeemed a meal is feeling inspired, they can keep the kindness train going by donating a meal for someone else.
Who Can Redeem Meals? Anyone in need can redeem a meal from Kind Dine. We define in need as meeting at least one of the following circumstances:
1. Household income is at or below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI) for this area, based on household size
2. Receive public assistance such as SNAP, TANF, SSI, unemployment insurance, Summer EBT (“Sunbucks”), Medicaid, or a similar public benefit program
3. Currently without a safe, stable place to live (for example, staying in a shelter, in a place not meant for living, or temporarily with friends or family after losing housing or due to financial hardship)
4. Age 62 or older
5. Experiencing difficulty meeting everyday necessities such as housing, food, clothing, or utilities due to a temporary crisis or unexpected event.
6, Living with a disability that affects one or more major life activities such as walking, seeing, hearing, communicating, or learning.
Applicants may be asked to provide supporting documentation to confirm eligibility, such as proof of income, benefit approval letters, or other relevant records. Any documents requested will be used only to verify program eligibility and will be immediately deleted after confirming eligibility.
How Do I Know My Meal Was Redeemed By Someone? Each donated meal will have a Kindness Tracker viewable to the person who purchased the meal. The tracker will show when the meal is still available and be updated when the meal has been redeemed.
Is There a Fee to Redeem a Meal? No, there is never a charge to redeem a Kind Dine meal. It’s completely free for anyone in need.
How do I get my restaurant on Kind Dine?
We’re always looking for Kind Restaurants to join our platform! To get started, please visit our Restaurant Sign Up page One of our team members will be in touch shortly to discuss the next steps.
How often can I purchase or redeem meals on Kind Dine?
There are no limits to how many Kind Meals you can purchase.
By default, users can redeem 1 meal a day. There may be times when that limit is temporarily increased.
Is there a specific time frame for redeeming meals?
Once the redeem button is pressed, users will have 1 hour to complete their pickup at the associated restaurant.
If the allotted time minutes passes, the user will be given a brief grace period.
If the extended time passes, the meal will return to the receipt wall for someone else to redeem. The meal will not be available to the initial user who tried to redeem it, for 24 hours.
Can I donate money instead of purchasing meals? Absolutely! We also accept monetary donations, which directly support our mission of bringing kindness and delicious food together. Donate here
Are there any volunteer opportunities with Kind Dine? We appreciate the enthusiasm! Yes, we often have opportunities to volunteer in various capacities, from helping with marketing to supporting community outreach efforts. If you’re interested in volunteering, let us know here.
